I wanted to set up dual monitors on my desktop, but couldn't as my video card has one VGA and one DVI out, and both my LCDs only have VGA in. So... bought this neat little cable to connect the DVI on my video card to my VGA lcd monitor. Works like a charm. If you're in a similar situation I couldn't recommend this cable enough.
