Jumper must be set to "master" mode for all 3.5inches & 5.25inches drives (except 2.5 inches notebook drive) A diagram of the jumper can usually be found on the manufactures product label Plug in all necessary cable and adapter before turning on power. Once the drive powers up, then plug in the USB cable. Hard drive with existing data should be recognizing immediately. New hard drive must be formatted and partitioned. Format new drive under XP: Go to Control Panel > Computer Management > Disc. Management - Under "Disc 1", Right Click and Initialize. After initializing, Right Click and Format and format wizard will appear. Please follow the wizard instruction to format drive. |
